Battery Operated Lamps

The best thing about Battery Operated Lamps is, they are cordless!  No trailing cords means there's no need to worry about positioning lamps depending on the location of those ‘all too scarce’ power outlets.   They're safer around young children and pets as there's no wires to get tangled up in.  The fact that they are cordless gives them the great advantage of being portable.  You might only have or want one but you can bring it with you to your favourite reading corner or the next room, with no scrambling under tables or behind the sofa to unplug it.  They are ideal for homes with very few power outlets or for camper vans, mobile homes, the beach hut, dorm rooms and so on.

There are a myriad of options available on the market.  For indoors there are styles to suit all tastes and budgets.  They are also available with different bulb types, lighting settings and with rechargeable options, so do your research first and decide what’s best for you before you buy!   Table lamps are both great ambient lighting and task lighting.  If you intend to buy a lamp to be used for a reading light, bare in mind that the lamp should be placed behind you at shoulder height but more importantly, the lamp shade should be at or below eye level to avoid the glare of the bulb.

Some of the outdoor recreational lamp options have a high and a low setting which lets you choose the amount of light and thus extends the lamps run time.  They all have a rugged exterior so they can survive the roughest of trips and they can run up to 17 hours on 4 D-cell batteries.
