I am a qualified Interior Decorator with a passion for what I do. I love the effect that lighting has on an interior and exterior of a home; it is such a crucial part of Interior Design. I'm also a fan of low budget makeovers, recycling where we can and generally helping to do our bit to save the planet, thus the purpose for my website.
Battery operated lights are a great, low energy lighting option for both inside and outside the home. They're a great idea if you want to avoid the expense of hiring an electrician or if you're living in temporary or rented accommodation. They're also a necessity in times of disaster or when the lights just go out! They're perfect for entertaining, adding atmosphere to an interior, decorating for a special occasion, numerous outdoor recreations ... the list goes on and on.
The first battery operated light I purchased was a colouring changing light that I used to help my daughter settle at night when she was just a few months old. I then purchased under cabinet lights so I could prepare her feeds in the small hours without having to turn on the main kitchen light. I've now got a battery operated lamp in her room which she can't pull down because there's no cord there to tempt her. I have lantern lights that we use outside in the evening and before Christmas we purchased solar powered string lights for outside to add a festive feel to the garden. These are simply a few of the battery operated lights I have in my home and I love that all of these items are so portable so we can take them with us to our next home and they don't cost the earth to run.
